About this opportunity

The School of Performance and Cultural Industries at the University of Leeds offers up to three postgraduate research scholarship opportunities for PhD study commencing on either 1 October 2026 or 1 February 2027. The scholarships are open to both home (UK) and international students and cover full PGR tuition fees for 3 years along with a UKRI-matched stipend for 3.5 years for full-time candidates. Applications are welcomed from prospective postgraduate researchers in areas related to performance and cultural industries, including Place Research, Participation Research, Digital Research, Pedagogic Research, Cultural Policy & Leadership, and the Centre for Cultural Value. The program particularly encourages proposals that decentre Eurocentric approaches, employ place-based methodologies, involve international comparative studies, focus on performance and creative industries linkages, the music industry, and digital applications to heritage and performance. Practice-led and participatory research approaches are welcomed from candidates with relevant experience. Awards are based on academic merit, and candidates must live within reasonable distance of the University of Leeds while receiving the scholarship.
