About this opportunity
Massey University offers a residency scholarship in veterinary anaesthesiology designed to fulfil qualifications for the ECVAA and/or ACVAA. This three-year full-time program requires a Masters degree to be completed concurrently with the residency. The successful resident will work in a vibrant academic teaching hospital with a varied caseload of complex and interesting cases. The program is engaging and supportive with three supervising faculty members (one ECVAA, one ECVAA/ACVAA). The program strongly supports the development of locoregional expertise in residents, with dedicated equipment for ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. The faculty have an excellent track record of residents completing research projects and being qualified to sit the specialty exam on time. Residents enjoy exceptional work-life balance with ample off-clinic time for studying and research, support for attending a specialty conference in their second or third year, and provide emergency out-of-hours service one week in five with direct support from faculty and additional compensation. The candidate must have completed a 1-year rotating internship (with no more than 30% being emergency duty) or 2 years of equivalent private practice experience. Applicants must hold a BVSc degree registerable in New Zealand and qualify to register as a candidate for the degree of Masters of Veterinary Studies (MVS).
