School Partnership Bursaries

UK-German Connection offers school partnership bursaries to support connections between UK and German schools. The bursary provides £1,000 to fund UK participants travelling to Germany and must be used to support direct contact and collaborative engagement between young people in the UK and Germany. The funding is specifically designed to help those who would not otherwise have the chance to participate in international exchange activities. The bursary can be used towards UK pupils' travel, accommodation and subsistence, with up to 20% available for teachers' costs. It can also support costs for joint activities during partner school visits to the UK and running costs for virtual activities. The bursary may not be used for tourist activities, excursions, hardware, visa, insurance costs, or supply cover. Eligible applicants include primary schools, secondary schools, SEN schools, and FE colleges in the UK with existing German partner schools. Youth groups are not eligible to apply. Activities must take place between 1 September 2026 and 31 December 2026 for the current funding round.
