About this opportunity
The Schools of Business and Economics Indigenous Student Scholarship is an annual award established in 2019 by Mr and Mrs Edwinsmith and maintained through annual donations. This scholarship provides financial support to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students who are enrolled full-time in undergraduate or postgraduate programs in the School of Business or School of Economics at the University of Queensland. The scholarship value is determined annually by the Faculty and is awarded for a duration of one year.
Applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as such by their community. The scholarship selection process considers academic achievement, financial need, and personal qualities including leadership potential. Applicants are required to submit a statement detailing the impact the scholarship will have on them personally and professionally, their future career aspirations, and relevant leadership and community service experiences.
The scholarship aims to support Indigenous students pursuing business and economics education at UQ, helping to address financial barriers and recognize academic excellence and leadership potential within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Recipients are selected through a competitive process that may include interviews for shortlisted candidates.
