About this opportunity
The Scotiabank Award for Law Students is a renewable award provided to a student with satisfactory academic standing in the first year of a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on academic standing and demonstrated work or voluntary experience supporting Visible Minorities, marginalized and/or disadvantaged groups. Preference is given to students who identify as members of a Visible Minority and/or who are First Nation, Inuit, or Métis persons of Canada in accordance with the Constitution Act, 1982, Part 2, Section 35(2). This award recognizes students who have demonstrated commitment to supporting underrepresented communities through their professional or volunteer activities. Receipt of funding for the second and third years is contingent upon achieving satisfactory academic standing on a minimum of 24 credits over the most recent September to April period at the University of Alberta each year. Students are automatically considered for this award based on their completed General Application.
