About This Opportunity

This scholarship honors Sgt. Rodney M. Davis, who sacrificed his life by lunging atop an enemy grenade on September 6, 1967, to save his fellow Marines. The scholarship embodies the values of honor, courage, and commitment that Sgt. Davis exemplified throughout his life and military service. The fund provides renewable scholarship support to JROTC cadets from Bibb County High Schools in Macon, Georgia, who demonstrate community service, moral character, and commitment to their country. The scholarship is designed to help graduating seniors who have been active in JROTC programs pursue higher education at accredited two or four-year colleges, universities, or vocational schools. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate a record of community service or service to others. The program particularly values cadets who have participated in JROTC for two or more years during their high school career. The fund provides $1,000 per year and awards one new recipient annually, while supporting up to four total recipients at any given time. Prior recipients can renew the scholarship for up to four years of their education career, provided they maintain eligibility criteria and complete required follow-ups. Recipients must be full-time students and may be invited to interview as part of the selection process.
