About This Opportunity
The Shackleton Foundation provides seed funding and support to early-stage social ventures with a primary focus on benefiting young people in the UK. Since inception in 2007, the foundation has empowered 73 leaders who embody the spirit of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton to make a substantial impact in their communities with innovative organisations that benefit disadvantaged young people. The foundation offers funding and support for those who have a big idea to help others and are prepared to take the risk to turn it into reality. Named after the legendary polar explorer, the foundation seeks individuals who display the same characteristics of courage, dedication and ambition that Shackleton demonstrated in helping others overcome their doubts and fears in the face of true adversity. The program provides first-mile funding to social entrepreneurs tackling youth inequality in the UK.
