About this opportunity
The Shield Club Scholarship Fund provides college scholarships for current employees of the Bibb Sheriff's Office, the Macon-Bibb Fire Department, and their immediate family members, including spouses and children. The original idea came from Mr. Peyton Anderson in the late 1960s, who was concerned about law enforcement officers' families being left with limited resources after unfortunate accidents. Established in 1968, the organization was modeled after a similar organization in Florida called the 100 Club. The scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students at accredited four-year public or private institutions in Georgia. Applicants must maintain a 2.0 GPA, with preference given to officers and previous scholarship recipients. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, providing up to $5,000 per year.
