Short-Term Research Grants to Pakistan

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) offers research travel grants to Pakistan each year for up to 3 months. This grant is open to AIPS members, regardless of citizenship, with graduate students strongly encouraged to apply. AIPS-funded travel is restricted to Islamabad and/or Lahore; Karachi may be possible for research purposes with prior approval from the AIPS office. Grants are awarded at $3,000 each and can be used to cover airfare and living expenses. Travel must take place between May 1 and December 31 of the year of the grant. Applicants must be graduate degree seeking or have completed a graduate degree, and must be AIPS Individual Members in good standing prior to submission and throughout the award tenure. AIPS strongly recommends establishing an affiliation with an academic institution in Pakistan for the duration of the award, though grantees are expected to arrange their own affiliation. All awardees must submit a final report after completion of their research.
