About This Opportunity

The Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library offers short-term travel awards to support scholarly use of the library research collections in five strategic areas: English-language literature and poetry, The Raymond Danowski Poetry Library, African American history and culture, Southern history and culture, and Political and social movements. Travel award applicants are required to submit a research plan and are evaluated on three criteria: the qualifications of the candidate, a clearly articulated research topic, and a demonstrated understanding of the research materials available in the Rose Library to support their work. Equal weight is given to each of these three aspects in determining the final priority rating. Awards are given at $1,000 per week, and the total award amount depends on the applicant's research proposal. Travel can begin on September 1, 2026, and must be completed by August 1, 2027. All award recipients are required to submit a report of their experiences and work at Rose Library for the library's blog. Funds are disbursed to award recipients 4-6 weeks after the completion of their research visit and submission of blog post.
