About this opportunity
The Sidney R. Steele Student Summer Award supports graduate students in the Master of Science in chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University. The award is intended for students who will have at least one summer of full-time enrollment remaining in their MS program of study. Recipients must hold an undergraduate degree in chemistry from an accredited U.S. institution, maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher in both undergraduate and graduate coursework, and demonstrate exceptional promise for distinction in the field of chemistry.
If a qualified graduate student cannot be identified, the award may be given to an undergraduate student enrolled in the BS in chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University. Undergraduate recipients must have completed at least twelve semester hours at EIU including at least six semester hours of chemistry, one semester of Quantitative Analysis, and two semesters of Organic Chemistry, while maintaining a 3.0 GPA overall and in chemistry courses.
Financial need may be considered when choosing between candidates with essentially equal qualifications. Students are automatically considered for this award based on their completed General Application in the Eastern Illinois University scholarship system.
