Sino-German (CSC-DAAD) Postdoc Scholarship Program

The Sino-German (CSC-DAAD) Postdoc Scholarship Program is a joint initiative between the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) established in 2013 to intensify German-Chinese research cooperation and improve funding opportunities for young Chinese scientists and academics. The scholarship programme offers young Chinese scientists and academics the opportunity to carry out a research project at a university or non-university research institute in Germany. The program provides comprehensive support including monthly scholarship payments totaling 2,050 euros (1,350 euros from CSC and 700 euros from DAAD), health insurance, travel expenses, visa fee coverage, and optional language training. The funding duration ranges from 6 to 24 months, with an initial 12-month period followed by a decision on potential extension for up to 12 additional months. The earliest possible funding period starts in July of the following year. Applicants must be outstanding graduates from Chinese universities and institutes, with doctoral degrees completed no longer than two years before application. Doctoral students finishing their PhD studies by the beginning of the scholarship are also eligible. Applications undergo review by a selection committee consisting of experts from both the CSC and DAAD. The program also provides a monthly research allowance of 200 euros to the German host institute.
