About this opportunity
The Heller Bursary provides funding to help students pursue a passion outside their area of study. This unique funding opportunity supports second-year undergraduate students in developing skills and interests that complement but are distinct from their academic coursework. Previous projects have helped students take up ice-skating, buy equipment to set up woodworking studios, get training to teach archery, develop German language skills, perfect skills in dressmaking, set up home ceramic studios, and learn musical instruments like the saxophone. The bursary was established by Sir Michael Heller, who passed away in January 2023, and continues to be supported by his wife, Lady Morven Heller, and their daughter, Nicola. Successful applicants can receive between £500 and £2,000 towards their project and are expected to share updates on their activities and may be invited to meet the donors to discuss their project.
