About This Opportunity

The Sir Reginald Ansett Scholarship for Aviation enables students to realise their passion for an aviation career and achieve their full academic potential by reducing the need to work outside of study. This scholarship is offered through the Sir Reginald Ansett Trust which was established through Sir Reginald Ansett's will in which he expressed his wish that the income from his charitable trust be used to assist young people to take their place in life. Sir Reginald (Reg) Myles Ansett KBE (1909–1981) was a pioneering Australian aviator and entrepreneur best known for launching Ansett Airways in 1936, which became one of Australia's leading domestic airlines until it collapsed in 2001. In the early 1920s, Sir Reginald gained qualifications as a knitting-machine mechanic at Swinburne (then Swinburne Technical College). The scholarship is valued at up to $30,000 with $10,000 paid annually for up to three years.
