About this opportunity
The Sir William Tyree Engineering Scholarship was established in 2021 by the Tyree Foundation in memory of Sir William Tyree, founder of the Tyree Group and a leading Australian industrialist. This scholarship supports domestic students from rural and remote Australia who are experiencing financial hardship and wish to pursue undergraduate engineering studies at the University of Queensland.
The scholarship provides $15,000 per year for up to 4 years to students enrolled full-time in the first year of an approved engineering program, including Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Master of Engineering, or engineering dual degree programs. Recipients must demonstrate a strong interest in Electrical Engineering.
Selection is based on academic achievement, financial circumstances, strength of interest in electrical engineering, personal qualities including leadership potential, community service and engagement, and other factors relevant to future success in the engineering profession. The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers for talented students from rural and remote areas of Australia who wish to pursue engineering careers.
