About this opportunity
A scholarship, valued at $2,000, will be awarded annually to a graduate student registered full-time in the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics. Selection will be based on academic excellence and demonstrated research in Mathematical Medicine. This fund is made possible by donations from friends and family to honour Siv Sivaloganathan, Chair of the University of Waterloo's Department of Applied Mathematics from 2016 to 2023, and Professor of Applied Mathematics since 1990, who passed away on March 2, 2025, after a brief illness. The scholarship is available to both Canadian/permanent residents and international students pursuing Masters or Doctoral degrees. Recipients are selected automatically by a committee within the Department of Applied Mathematics, normally each spring term, based on a minimum cumulative average of 80% and demonstrated research excellence in the field of Mathematical Medicine.
