About this opportunity
Skagen AIR is an artist residency program that offers Nordic artists the opportunity to work in the historic studios of Michael Ancher and P.S. Krรธyer in Skagen, Denmark. The program is open to artists from Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden across all art forms. The residency builds on the legacy of the Skagen artist colony established around 1900 by Anna and Michael Ancher, P.S. Krรธyer, Holger Drachmann, and other artists. By opening these historic studios, Skagen AIR seeks to create new artistic connections between the heritage left by the Skagen painters and present-day life in Skagen. Artists have the opportunity to immerse themselves in their creative work while engaging with the Skagens Kunstmuseer community and Skagen's town and residents. The program was launched in 2024 and has already hosted 12 artists whose presence has enriched both themselves and the local community.
