About this opportunity

This grant program supports extraordinary measures against marine pollution and is exclusively available to operational units in the Norwegian Coastal Service (Skjærgårdstjenesten). The program funds cleanup and prevention activities targeting marine litter. Miljødirektoratet (Norwegian Environment Agency) collects all national cleanup data through the cleanup tools Rent hav and Rydde to achieve better national coordination and effective cleanup operations. Applicants can seek funding for cleanup operations and preventive measures, including costs for organizing cleanup actions, registration of findings, handling of marine waste, transport of volunteers, equipment rental, consumables, and motivation measures. Projects should be completed and reported within the application year. The agency prioritizes projects that bring together multiple actors and participants covering larger geographic areas, ensure efficient use of funds with well-documented expenses, have targeted prevention plans to engage specific sectors or industries, demonstrate competence to carry out proposed measures, and involve cleanup in areas where using volunteer participants is not safe or efficient. The allocation considers what units have previously applied for and received from the general grant for marine pollution measures.
