S.L. Nanda and J.L. Nanda Mathematics and Science Scholarship

The S.L. Nanda and J.L. Nanda Mathematics and Science Scholarship supports students from Charleston High School pursuing science and mathematics majors at Eastern Illinois University. This scholarship is specifically designed for graduating Charleston High School students who have demonstrated strong academic performance in mathematics and science coursework. Recipients must be accepted to attend EIU as full-time students with a declared major in the College of Sciences, including Biological Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology, or Math & Computer Science, with or without teacher certification. Eligible candidates must have completed a minimum of 16 credit hours of recognized science/math coursework at Charleston High School upon graduation. The scholarship selection is based on a point system that weighs both the candidate's Math & Science GPA and Cumulative GPA using a specific formula. The award is payable when the recipient reaches junior status, provided their declared major remains eligible for the award within three to four years of high school graduation. Financial need is not a requirement for this scholarship, making it purely merit-based with a focus on academic achievement in STEM fields.
