Society of Merchant Venturers Charity Grants

The Society of Merchant Venturers Charity provides grants to support a broad range of local causes that benefit Greater Bristol and surrounding areas. The charity is funded by contributions from SMV members and administered by the Charity Sub-Committee, which meets four times a year to consider applications for funding. Grants are awarded to groups and organizations responding directly to the needs of their communities. The primary areas supported include social needs, youth, education, environment, social enterprise, health care, culture and the arts, and projects that will benefit Greater Bristol and its economic development. The charity purposefully directs its charitable giving to encourage and help sustain the work being done by individuals and communities to overcome disadvantage. Grants awarded typically range between £500 and £5,000. Applications are reviewed quarterly, with meetings held in January, April, July, and October. Organizations must submit completed application forms by the specified deadlines for consideration at upcoming meetings.
