About this opportunity

The Department of Sociology at UW-Milwaukee recognizes outstanding sociology students with various merit awards. Each fall, the sociology faculty nominate accomplished majors and minors for one of two undergraduate awards: The Distinguished Scholar Award and the Joan W. Moore Service Scholar Award. The Distinguished Scholar Award recognizes outstanding achievement in the major by a senior undergraduate who has demonstrated commitment to the field of sociology. The Joan W. Moore Service-Scholar Award honors Professor Emerita Joan W. Moore and recognizes senior undergraduate sociology majors who have both distinguished academic records and a history of service in the university or the wider community. Periodically, additional academic merit scholarships may be given to high-achieving sociology students. All awardees are recognized at an annual awards ceremony held each spring.
