About this opportunity
The Solidarity Through Scholarship Award is provided to students of African descent who self-identify as Black, African-Canadian, African-American, of Afro-Caribbean or Afro-Latinx heritage with satisfactory academic standing in any year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta. Selection is based on academic standing and demonstrated financial need. If no eligible students are found in this category, the award may alternatively be awarded to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Native Studies who self-identify as First Nation, Métis and/or Inuit under s.35 of the Constitution Act, 1982 and who have a dependent child or children. The award is funded by endowed funds from community members in support of fostering solidarity between Indigenous and Black communities in Canada. Students are automatically considered based on their completed General Application through the University of Alberta's application system.
