About this opportunity
The Soroptimist Foundation of Canada (SFC) annually offers four grants of $8,500 each to female graduate students in Canada to assist them with university studies that will qualify them for careers that will improve the quality of women's lives. Examples include but are not limited to: providing medical services, providing legal counselling and assistance, counselling mature women entering or re-entering the labour market, counselling women in crisis, counselling and training women for nontraditional employment, and positions in women's centres.
Applicants must be female (or identify as female), Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and accepted registrants in a full-time graduate studies program (Masters or PhD) or professional program at a similar level (medicine, law) in an accredited Canadian university. Recipients must be committed to working in Canada for at least two years after graduation and must be contributing to their community through volunteer service.
The application requires a completed application form, proof of citizenship or permanent resident status, proof of university registration, three letters of reference, a completed financial statement, and a personal statement. Applications must be submitted between November 1st and January 31st annually. An applicant may apply more than once but will not be eligible to receive a second grant.
