About This Opportunity
The Soudavar Memorial Research Studentship in Persian Studies provides awards to cover parts of the fees and maintenance costs of MPhil and PhD students conducting research on all aspects of Persian Studies in the Islamic period. Preference is given to research relevant to the research interests of the Persianists in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies. Typically, one or two awards between £5,000 and £22,000 are made annually. For PhD students, the award is made on a yearly basis, and its renewal after the first year is dependent on good performance. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for matched funding. The main deadline is early December 2025, but there is some scope to consider later applications up to April 2026.
