Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship

The Southern Cross Nursing Scholarship for University of Waikato was established in 2025 by the Southern Cross Health Trust and Southern Cross Healthcare to support the development, education, and leadership of the nursing profession in Aotearoa New Zealand. The scholarship supports Bachelor of Nursing students who are passionate about pursuing a career in nursing and are experiencing personal challenges or disadvantage, including financial and family circumstances. Each year, three scholarships are available to new-to-study domestic students enrolling full-time towards a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Waikato. The scholarship is valued at $10,000 per year for up to three years and includes extension learning opportunities and the opportunity to engage with Southern Cross Healthcare. For 2026 only, six scholarships are also offered to current Bachelor of Nursing students for their second and third year of study. Recipients entering their second year are awarded a two-year scholarship valued at $20,000, while those entering their third year receive a one-year scholarship valued at $10,000.
