About this opportunity
The Speech Language Therapy Scholarship is offered by the New Zealand Ministry of Education to support students pursuing qualifications in speech language therapy. This scholarship is designed to increase the number of qualified speech language therapists, particularly those who can serve diverse communities in New Zealand. The program provides financial support, practical placement opportunities, and enhanced networking for Māori recipients. The scholarship is available to students enrolled in approved Bachelor's or Master's programs at the University of Canterbury, Massey University, or the University of Auckland. Priority is given to applicants who speak te reo Māori, Pasifika languages, or other languages widely used in New Zealand educational settings, as well as to those of Māori or Pasifika descent. Recipients receive $5,000 per year upon successful completion of their academic year, a guaranteed placement at a Ministry office during the practicum block course with an additional $1,500 payment, and an interview opportunity in their final year.
