Spesielle miljøtiltak i jordbruket (SMIL)

The SMIL (Special Environmental Measures in Agriculture) program provides grants to promote nature and cultural values in agricultural landscapes and to reduce pollution from agriculture beyond what can be expected through normal agricultural practices. The municipality processes and decides on grant applications according to local action strategies that provide overarching guidelines for prioritizing SMIL applications. The program supports specific environmental projects and measures implemented by agricultural enterprises. To receive support, applicants must meet requirements in production subsidy regulations, maintain fertilizer plans and pesticide journals, and possess maps of owned and leased agricultural areas. If measures are to be implemented on leased land, written permission from the landowner is required.
