The grant scheme for sports, outdoor recreation and physical activity facilities aims to enable a larger portion of the population to engage in sports and physical activities. The program provides funding for the construction and rehabilitation of sports and physical activity facilities. Eligible applicants include municipalities, county municipalities, municipal enterprises, student welfare organizations, sports clubs, and organizational units in the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. The grant scheme follows an annual application cycle managed through municipalities and county councils, with applications processed through a structured timeline from June through July the following year. The purpose is to ensure safety for developers of large-scale, costly facilities, particularly sports halls, while also securing a consistent supply of smaller and medium-sized facilities for a broad spectrum of sports and activities.
