Statsbidrag för maxtaxa 2026

This is a Swedish government grant program that provides state subsidies to municipalities to compensate them for implementing maximum fee systems (maxtaxa) in preschools, after-school care centers, and pedagogical care facilities. The grant is distributed automatically to municipalities that apply the maximum fee system, requiring no application process. The program aims to reduce household costs for childcare and after-school services. Starting July 1, 2026, new regulations will lower fees for families by changing how fee-based income is calculated, with households earning less than 10,001 SEK paying no fees. The 2026 allocation includes a 1 billion SEK increase to be distributed to all municipalities in autumn 2026.
