About this opportunity
The Steel Magnolias Garden Club offers a $1,000 scholarship for college-bound students who exhibit outstanding interest in ecology, agriculture, horticulture and the environment through study, volunteerism, work and/or hobbies. Recipients must plan a college major related to ecology, agriculture, horticulture or environmental sciences. The scholarship is available to students who live in Franklin, Johnston, Nash, Wake or Wilson counties in North Carolina. Recipients are selected by the SMGC scholarship committee based on personal statements explaining why they are interested in the declared major or their interest in improving/beautifying their community, as well as activities, study, hobbies and/or jobs related to this interest. Applicants must show proof of high school graduation, provide a most recent scholastic transcript, and a letter of acceptance by the two or four-year college or university they are attending. The scholarship can be received one time only.
