Strategic Fund

The Strategic Fund is the primary funding stream of the Viking Community Fund, managed by the Shetland Community Benefit Fund. This fund supports one-off projects or multi-year projects that are community-focused and aimed at sustaining and developing Shetland's communities. Applications must clearly align with the fund's strategic priorities, which include encouraging younger people to stay or return to Shetland, improving transport and digital connectivity, reducing cost of living, improving housing supply and affordability, and preserving Shetland's natural environment. The fund is designed as a 'project funder' rather than core operational funding, and applicants are encouraged to seek additional funding sources for their projects. The Strategic Fund accepts applications over £10,000, with special consultation required for requests exceeding £50,000. Each organization may submit one application annually, which can cover a multi-year project period.
