About This Opportunity

This is a participatory budgeting initiative in Oslo's Tøyen neighborhood where residents can apply for funding to create activities, installations, or other initiatives in Kolstadgata street. The street was closed in September 2019, and the Områdeløft Grønland and Tøyen program wants to give the local community an opportunity to decide how the street should look and be used until permanent upgrades begin. Applicants must have strong roots in the local community - living, working, or being engaged in activities closely connected to the area. Activities must take place physically in Kolstadgata street, be open and accessible to all, and should be implementable during fall/winter. A total of 250,000 kroner is available for distribution. Approved applications are presented at a public meeting on November 7, 2019, where community members vote to determine which projects receive funding. This democratic approach allows the local population on Tøyen to directly decide how the funds will be used for temporary activations of the street space.
