About this opportunity
Travel assistance to help defray the costs of attending the annual meetings is available for graduate students. The grant helps cover expenses associated with attending the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) annual conference. The registration fee is included as part of the grant, and checks are distributed in person at the SSSR meeting. Multiple awards are provided each year to students presenting research at the conference.
Applicants are asked to include an abstract of their paper and provide their contact information, name of their academic advisor, academic program status (MA, ABD, etc.), whether they have attended SSSR meetings before, their SSSR program status (presenting, co-author but not presenting, etc.), and any additional sources of funding such as departmental travel assistance. Applications must be submitted electronically by the deadline, which coincides with the conference abstract submission deadline.
Awardees are notified by email approximately six weeks after the application deadline, allowing them to plan their conference attendance accordingly. Students must pre-register for the conference using a special code provided by the Executive Office. This grant supports graduate students in the scientific study of religion to participate in the annual SSSR conference and present their research.
