About this opportunity
The DAAD Study Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies in the Field of the Performing Arts offers international students the opportunity to continue their education in Germany with a postgraduate or continuing course of study in performing arts disciplines including Drama, Theatre Directing/Theatre Dramaturgy, Musicals, Performance Studies, Dance, and Choreography. The program provides financial support for Master's degree programs or postgraduate courses leading to a final qualification at state or state-recognized German universities, or for complementary courses without a degree. Scholarships are awarded for 10 to 24 months depending on the program length. The program promotes exchange of experience and networking amongst colleagues in the performing arts field. Recipients can pursue either a degree-granting program or an independent project/complementary study course with a professor in Germany, provided there is a mandatory connection to a German university in the arts field. The scholarship includes monthly stipend, travel allowance, study allowance, insurance coverage, and potential German language course funding. Selection is based on artistic qualification, maturity measured by study achievements and work samples, and quality of the project as demonstrated through the study plan and letter of motivation. A special DAAD committee of professors from German art, music and film schools reviews applications and artistic work samples to make final decisions.
