About this opportunity
This scholarship was created in memory of Susan Ellis Roberts who passed away in 2003. Susan was a highly regarded educator who brought creativity, talent and love to her work. Susan believed that students who do not fit a mold are often overlooked. Like a 'diamond in the rough,' these students shine, but not necessarily in a typical or expected way. The scholarship was developed to identify and award a Wake County public school graduating senior who has demonstrated a creative gift or special talent in visual or performing arts, leadership, teaching, entrepreneurship or other area of talent who is that 'diamond in the rough.' The scholarship provides $3,000 that may be used towards any need listed under the school's total cost of attendance. This is a one-time payment awarded to students planning to enroll in school full time.
