About this opportunity
The Susan Makurath Award provides $2,000 in funding for eligible students participating in the Temple Summer in France: French Language at the Sorbonne (Paris) program. This scholarship is specifically designed to support students pursuing French language proficiency through study abroad. The award is offered by the French, German, Italian, and Slavic (FGIS) department at Temple University.
Applicants must submit a 500- to 1000-word typed essay addressing their specific goals for studying abroad, explaining how language study in France fits with these goals, and describing how they will ensure achievement of these goals. A successful essay will clearly articulate how the Temple Summer in France program relates to the applicant's personal, academic, and long-term objectives.
To be eligible, applicants must be attending the Temple Summer in France: French Language at the Sorbonne (Paris) program, demonstrate financial need, and be enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts. Preference is given to students who major in French.
