Suzanne Dumville Barchers Writing Excellence Award

The Suzanne Dumville Barchers Writing Excellence Award supports full-time students majoring in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Middle Level Education at Eastern Illinois University. Recipients must be admitted to Teacher Education and have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. The award emphasizes writing excellence and requires applicants to submit a reflective essay of 300-500 words explaining what inspired them to become a teacher, which may include stories about influential people, descriptions of experiences such as activities, travel, or study, or work with young people. Recipients may only receive this award once. The award is announced in the Spring semester and disbursed in the Fall semester.
