About this opportunity
The Sydney Dental Hospital Indigenous Scholarship was established in 2019 to provide financial assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying dentistry or oral health at the University of Sydney. The scholarship aims to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in the dentistry and oral health workforce. Funded by the Sydney Local Health District, this scholarship supports Indigenous students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Oral Health or the Doctor of Dental Medicine Program.
The scholarship provides $17,000 per annum to help support Indigenous students throughout their dental or oral health studies. Selection is based on academic merit, a personal statement, and evidence of community engagement. Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance with a minimum Semester Average Mark of 50 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship.
This scholarship represents a commitment to improving Indigenous representation in the health workforce and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in achieving their educational and professional goals in dentistry and oral health. The scholarship is tenable for one year and payment is made in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.
