About this opportunity
This scholarship provides financial assistance to PhD students who are undertaking research in one of the core areas of Sydney Environment Institute's collaborative work. The scholarship is funded by the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and supports full-time doctoral research in environmental and sustainability-focused areas. Recipients must conduct research in specific areas including environment and emotions, climate imaginaries, environmental justice, multispecies justice, food justice, resource governance and extraction, Indigenous justice and environment, adaptation and resilience, sustainability, environment and the arts, community energy and food systems, climate change and finance, extinction studies, biocultural diversities, climate change and higher education curricula in Australia, or plants, people, and place. The scholarship provides a stipend equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

Review process
Selection based on academic merit, research proposal, CV, feedback from three academic referees, and personal statement demonstrating engagement with research area. Committee consists of Deputy Director of SEI and at least two other academic staff members.
