Tagaloa Scholarships

The Tagaloa scholarships are for Pacific students in their final year of postgraduate tertiary study. These scholarships support Pacific student achievement in tertiary institutions and are part of the broader Talanoa Ako response to the Pacific PowerUP evaluations (2016–2019). Through these evaluations, Pacific communities highlighted the need to grow Pacific capacity and capability within both the education sector and local communities. The scholarships are offered for the final year of academic study. There are 2 Tagaloa scholarships available each year: 1 master's scholarship worth $10,000 NZD and 1 doctoral scholarship worth $14,000 NZD. Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of indigenous Pacific cultural heritage who are in their last year of full-time postgraduate study.
