About This Opportunity

Tage Erlander Visiting Professorship is a distinguished visiting professorship program offered by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). The purpose is to give Swedish universities the opportunity to develop a research area by recruiting an internationally leading professor for a shorter period. The visiting professor is expected to contribute to the host institution's research and visit other institutions across Sweden within their field. For the 2027 cycle, the program focuses on natural sciences and engineering within specified areas including atmospheric, water and earth sciences, geology, geochemistry, geophysics, evolutionary biology, genetics, ecology, organism biology, cell biology, developmental biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, various chemistry disciplines, bioprocess technology, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering. The nominated researcher must hold a professor title or equivalent and cannot already be established in Sweden. The host institution is responsible for employing the guest professor during the entire visit and providing local arrangements.

Review process

Applications are evaluated by external reviewers with subject expertise and discussed by a review panel consisting of Swedish and international researchers. At least two external reviewers assess and grade each application individually, then the full review panel meets to discuss, prioritize applications and submit recommendations to the Subject Committee for Natural Sciences and Engineering.
