About This Opportunity

The aim of this scholarship is to improve progression and completion rates for Indigenous higher education students and provides universities more flexibility to implement responses that best meet the needs of individual students by providing scholarships, counselling and tutorial assistance. This scholarships offers up to $5,000 per year for up to four years. To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester. The scholarship is specifically designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from low socio-economic backgrounds studying at the University of Tasmania. A separate scholarship has been created for one student to be awarded the Takamuna Rosie Smith Law Scholarship, named after Rosie Smith, a well-respected Aboriginal leader who holds a law degree from UTAS.
