About this opportunity
The Taki Turner Scholarship was established in 2024 through a partnership between University of Waikato, Waikato-Tainui and settlement funds held by Te Papa Atawhai Department of Conservation. The scholarship is in memory of kaumātua Takiri mai te ata Turner, fondly known as Koro Taki by many, who was instrumental in many organisations in the Waikato region creating rich channels of communication and engagement to Waikato-Tainui. The scholarship supports full-time domestic Waikato-Tainui uri (descendants) studying any programme in 2025 in areas that align with strategic aspirations of the iwi. It is awarded based on academic merit and focuses on areas aligned with the strategic aspirations of the iwi. The scholarship is available to domestic students who are enrolled full-time (120 points) in any programme at the University of Waikato in 2025. Please note that Doctoral and MPhil programmes are excluded.
