About this opportunity
The Tanner Perry Memorial Scholarship was established by John and Cathy Perry to honor the memory of their son, who lost a battle with cancer in 2008 at the age of 17. Tanner was described as a courageous fighter with a gentle spirit who became a leader-in-training for Camp Goodtimes during his yearlong fight with cancer. As a Cashmere High School student, he was an enthusiastic member of the cross country and knowledge bowl teams, and was involved in the Alpine Club and Leadership Club. He loved hiking, mountain biking and snowboarding, and had a gift for math and science with plans to become a forensic scientist.
This scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors of Cashmere High School who are enrolled in an accredited education program. Students pursuing a field related to science and/or math are given preference. The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to extracurricular activities such as cross-country, leadership and/or knowledge bowl, and who display strong moral character and demonstrated compassion and concern for others.
