About this opportunity
The Taplin Indigenous Bursary for International Education has been established by Emeritus Professor John Taplin to support the expenses of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students or staff involving engagement with other First-Nations peoples overseas. The bursaries are open to both current Indigenous staff and students and are available to assist with the expenses of international education and travel. Recipients must use the bursary funds to undertake and engage in a project in a country with First Nation peoples (with a preference for New Zealand and Canada) that is relevant to issues facing Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, or to attend a conference or visit relevant centres to investigate issues of relevance to Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. The funds cover legitimate costs associated with travel to the study project or conference such as airfares, accommodation and program expenses. Selection of successful candidates is made according to academic merit, with funds used to support study projects with First-Nations peoples with a preference for programs in Canada or New Zealand.
