About this opportunity
The Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a Louisiana state merit-based scholarship program for Louisiana residents attending eligible postsecondary institutions within the state. The program provides financial assistance to students who attend Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities, schools within the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, Louisiana approved Proprietary and Cosmetology Schools, or institutions that are part of the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
TOPS offers multiple award levels including TOPS Opportunity, TOPS Performance, TOPS Honors, TOPS Excellence, and TOPS Tech awards. Each award level has different eligibility requirements based on core curriculum completion, GPA, and ACT/SAT scores. The program is designed to recognize and reward academic achievement while making higher education more accessible to Louisiana students.
To qualify, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, meet Louisiana residency requirements, complete required units on the TOPS or TOPS Tech core curricula, meet minimum Core GPA requirements based on the award level, and achieve minimum ACT composite score requirements. The program includes provisions for maintaining the award throughout the student's college career.
