About this opportunity

This scholarship was established by TEAM IM NZ to support Māori students who are intending to study IT-related subjects at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship provides $24,000 over three years ($8,000 per annum) to help cover accommodation, fees, and living costs. TEAM IM NZ is a company that has been delivering high-value content management and unstructured data solutions for over 20 years, with offices in New Zealand and Australia. They aspire to support technology careers for Māori students through scholarships and internships. The scholarship is specifically designed for school leavers of Māori descent who are New Zealand citizens and intending to enrol in engineering or science degrees with IT-related majors including Software Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Systems. Selection is based on financial hardship and academic progress, with wāhine (women) encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Te Reo or willingness to learn is considered beneficial. In addition to the financial support, scholarship recipients are offered a paid summer internship at TEAM IM NZ in their final year, with the possibility of a graduate role. Recipients are expected to maintain connections with TEAM IM NZ through events and activities, and must maintain satisfactory academic progress and continue in their field of study throughout the three-year tenure.
