About This Opportunity

The Tenia Jenkins Activist Award recognizes an individual's significant contribution to activism among WEAC members for the benefit of students and members. This award is given to a WEAC member who has been actively involved in their local affiliate, Region, at the state and/or national level, and who has also been active in their local home community. The award honors Tenia Jenkins and celebrates exceptional activism that benefits students and educators. Eligibility for the award is open to any WEAC (Wisconsin Education Association Council) member. Nominations are solicited annually with a deadline of January 25th, and nominations may be made by members of Regions and local affiliates, members of the WEAC Board of Directors, or anyone employed by WEAC or its affiliates. The subcommittee presents its recommendation to the Board of Directors no later than the February meeting, with a majority vote constituting affirmation of the recommendation.
