About this opportunity
The Terrence David Gleason Award is granted to a graduating English Major or English Honours student in high standing who is considered the student who best represents and exemplifies the characteristics of a liberal arts education. This award recognizes academic excellence and embodiment of liberal arts values among graduating English students at the University of Prince Edward Island. The award was established in May 2024 by Greg and Heather Doran, both graduates of King's College at Western University. Heather has extensive experience in the Maritime publishing industry and with Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI, and currently serves as assistant manager of Bookmark Charlottetown. Greg completed his graduate degrees at UNB in Fredericton and has been a professor of Theatre and English at UPEI since 2004. Though originally from Ontario, the Dorans have made the Maritimes their home since 1992 and established this award to honour their connection to the past, present, and future of liberal arts education.
