About This Opportunity

The Bergman Estate on Fårö offers residency opportunities for artists, scholars, and journalists from around the world, as well as people dedicated to democracy and freedom of speech. The estate provides accommodation free of charge for work periods ranging from two weeks to six weeks. The residency is designed to be a centre for challenging and creative work, offering a place to withdraw and create in solitude, or to meet and achieve something in common. Residents are expected to suggest a way to reimburse the community through some kind of cultural or artistic contribution. The estate is managed according to Ingmar Bergman's ideals and respects Fårö's unique nature and culture. Projects do not need to be related to Ingmar Bergman's work. The estate is open from March through November, with applications accepted from October 1 to December 1 each year, and grants announced in February.
